Just before 5pm , Station 62 was dispatched to the 3100 block of Coventryville Road for a brush fire . The caller reported several acres to be actively on fire and spreading. Responding units observed a large smoke column in the area. Chief 62 added Station 64 (Norco) onto the response. Engine 62-2 , Brush 62, and Utility 62-1 with the UTV arrived and made entry onto the trail. Crews donned portable water tanks , utilized hand tools and hiked through the woods to reach the fire and begin extinguishing it. Battalion 62 established command, and requested assistance from Station 69 (Twin Valley) and Station 61 (Kimberton) , and placed covering companies into Station 62 and 64. Engine 62-5 and Engine 64-5 assisted with water supply to several brush units and UTVs operating on the scene. Due to the size of the fire , Station 62 and Station 64 fire police detoured and shut down several roads in the area. Battalion 62 replaced the cover companies and called Station 73 (Ludwig’s Corner), Station 48 (Glenmoore) Montgomery County Station 51 (Limerick) and Station 69 (Pottstown) to the scene. Crews from the DCNR and the Brandywine Creek Forestry Crew also made the response and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Crews operated for almost 5 hours. This incident in under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal’s Office.
