House Fire Easter Sunday 04/05/2015

Crews Keep Busy on Easter Sunday!

On Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 1326Hrs the Chester County Fire Board alerted Station 62 (Ridge) and MICU 83 (Friendship EMS) for a Garage Fire on Wade Drive in the Barton Meadows section of East Vincent Twp. Chief and Deputy 62 responded moments after dispatch and were advised of a garage on fire. Based on the reports coming in Chief 62 requested the Working Fire Dispatch alerting Tower 61 (Kimberton), MontCo Air 51 (Linfield) and Chester County Fire Marshals to the scene. Deputy 62 arrived on location and confirmed the garage was well off with fire extending into the two story home prompting an upgrade to the 2nd Alarm. Engine 62-1 and Engine 62-5's crews arrived and stretched three handlines through the front door for an interior attack from the 1st, 2nd and attic levels to stop the fire's advance into the home along with a fourth line stretched to the exterior of the garage where two vehicles were also involved in fire.

Deputy 62 established Wade Dr command and requested 2 additional ALS EMS units to the scene from West End Phoenixville and Friendship EMS of Royersford to handle rehab as MICU 83 was committed to treating a civilian burn injury on arrival.

Due to the high winds and recent dry conditions a large brush fire had started to the rear and side of the home and was extending past Sheeder Road. Command requested additional Brush trucks to the scene from (Kimberton and Ludwigs Corner). Rescue 62 and Engine 62-2 also assisted on stopping the advance of the brush fire into a large hay field along Sheeder Road.

At 1359Hrs Wade Dr Command placed the fire under control with all crews working with overhaul. Chester County Fire Marshall FM 100 (Holt) and FM 103 (Holmes) were on scene investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

All crews were clear of the scene at 1618Hrs.

The Ridge Fire Company would like to thank all mutual aid companies and stand-by companies for their assistance over their Easter Holiday.
