Mutual Assist with fire in Twin Valley - 7/1/2009

On Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 1233Hrs, the Chester County Fire Board alerted the Twin Valley Fire Department (Station 69), Ridge Fire Co. (Station 62) for two Engines and Elverson Ambulance (Station 89) were dispatched for a report of a house on fire at the 200 block of Hill Rd in Warwick Township.
The Chester County Fire Board advised all responding units that the caller states that the attic was on fire. Ambulance 89-1 was first to arrived and found smoke coming from the attic "side C" of a single story home.
Engine 69-5 arrived next with and entered the home with a thermal imaging camera and the "CAFS CAN". Deputy 69A (Mcewen) established "Hill Rd Command". Firefighters made their way into the house and found the attic steps. Firefighters were faced with heavy smoke and heat once entering the attic and found a small fire in the corner of the attic. The CAFS Can knocked fire almost completely out.
Crews from Engine 62-1 and Ladder 69 stretched two 1-3/4" CAFS lines from Engine 69-5. One line was advanced into the house to back up the initial attack and the other line was advanced around to the "C Side" of the dwelling. Crews from Engine 62-5 laddered the fire side of the dwelling to open up part of the wall to expose the remaining fire. Hill Road Command placed the fire under control at 1317Hrs. Chester County FM 103 responded to the scene for the investigation All 62 where clear of the scene at 1350Hrs.
