Easter Sunday Started Early & Proved to be Busy for Ridge

Ridge Fire Company - House Fire - 4/12/2009

  Just before Midnight Sunday, The Ridge Fire Company was dispatched to an auto accident in the Barton Meadows Development on Nottingham Drive in East Vincent Twp. Rescue and Engine 62-1 responded and handled debris removal, being no other services were required by the fire company the trucks returned available at 0011Hrs. After returning to the station, at 0029Hrs Chester County advised that Medical Command requested that the victims from the earlier accident be treated at a trauma center and EMS had requested the flight of two medical helicopters. Chief 62 advised the LZ would be at station 62, and Engine 62-1 established the LZ in the parking lot. SkyCare 1 and PennStar 2 accepted the flight and transported the victims. All 62 units were clear at 0149Hrs including Fire Police still at the accident scene.

  Units On Scene: Rescue 62, Engine 62-1, MICU 1-67-4, MontCo Medic 325-2, 62 Fire Police, Spring City, and East Vincent PD.

  At 1410Hrs the Chester County Fire Board alerted Ridge Fire Company (Station 62) and Goodwill Ambulance of Pottstown, (Medic 329) for a dwelling fire on Pottstown Pike, between Cadmus Rd and Ridge Rd in South Coventry Twp. Chief 62 immediately responded and was advised of an attached garage on fire with flames visible on top of the roof. At that time Chief 62 requested the Working Fire Dispatch which brought in Twin Valley Fire Dept. (Station 69) for their Rescue and Norco Fire Co. (Station 64) for their Tower to the scene. Deputy 62 while responding to the scene reported heavy smoke from Rt 23 and later went on scene with a working house fire and assumed Rt 100 Command. Command had also requested additional tanker from Station 69 and Station 64 for water supply as well as confirming the house was evacuated. Engine 62-1s crews arrived and led an aggressive interior and exterior attack knocking down the bulk of the fire, and stopping the spread of fire from consuming the rest of the house. Engine 62-5 stretched a 5 supply line up the drive way and also supplied Engine 62-1 with a 5 Line. Rescue 62 hooked up to the supply line dropped by 62-5 at the base of the driveway and supplied the attack with water from the additional tankers. Crews from Tower 64 and Station 69 assisted with fire suppression of the car located in the garage, ventilation and overhaul. Rescue 69 also assisted in filling air bottles with their on board cascade system. Command placed the fire under control at 1439Hrs. FM 100 and 103 responded for the investigation, Belfor Restoration was also requested for boarding up and securing the residence. Crews and apparatus began clearing the scene 1521Hrs, with the final units clearing at 1723Hrs.
