On 11-17-07 at 0015hrs Chester County Communications alerted the Ridge Fire Co. (62) and Goodwill Ambulance of Pottstown (M329) to a reported house fire on the Beaver Run Farm Property off of Prizer Rd, by Rt. 100 in South Coventry Twp. Chief 62 immediately responded and was advised that it was a house attached to a barn with fire through the roof, and horse still inside the barn. At that point Chief 62 upgraded to the second alarm requesting a full company assist from Ludwig’s Corner Fire Co. (73). Engine 62-2 then made the response, while en route responders could see a bright glow in the night sky confirming that the fire was working. Battalion 62 arrived on scene and reported fire through the roof, and barn well involved, and confirmed all horses were rescued from the stables. Battalion 62 then hit the third alarm requesting Norco Fire Co. (64) full company assist with Tower 64 hitting the street first. Eng 62-2 arrived and laid a 5inch supply line from the front entrance to the rear of the barn. Crews pulled two 1-˝ lines off of 62-2 and started attacking the fire at the rear of the Barn. Eng 62-5 pulled in the entrance and set up on the front corner of the barn picking up the supply line that Eng 62-2 laid. Eng 62-5 started to attack the fire utilizing it's deck gun, knocking down most of the fire in the middle. Eng 62-1 set up on the opposite side of the barn and began attacking from the middle. Eng 73-2 and Eng 73-1 arrived and set up along Eng 62-1, also being supplied by Eng 62-5 they utilized their foam system for the attack. Tower 64 arrived and set up in front of the barn and started ventilation by trench cutting the roof to stop the fire that had reached over the fire wall at the rear and was now running the roof to the front of the barn over the stables. The fourth alarm had been struck requesting Kimberton Fire Co. (61) full company assist and additional tankers from Twin Valley Fire Dept. (69), Lionville Fire Co. (47), and Liberty Fire Co. (63). Rescue 62 established a fill site at Rt. 100 and Hartman Rd for the tanker shuttle. Additional manpower from 61 was sent to refresh the attack crews, and to start opening up the side of the barn. The fire was placed under control with extensive overhaul to be done at 0122Hrs. Command also requested MontCo North Penn Goodwill (M41) for their canteen services. Penn DOT and the South Coventry Road Crew were also requested to salt Rt. 100 due to icing at the fill site. Chester County Fire Marshals 100 and 101 began their investigation while crews were overhauling the rear caretaker's quarters at the rear of the barn. Rescue 73 responded to the scene and utilized its Cascade system to refill air bottles. Tower 64 was then repositioned to the rear of the barn next to Eng 62-2 to douse any remaining hot spots in the roof and inside. Units began to clear the scene around 0200hrs, with the majority of the apparatus not clearing until 0400Hrs. Prizer Rd Command was terminated and all 62 units were returning available at 0401Hrs.
