Weather Finally Breaks to Perform Ladder Training 3/15/2005
After being plagued the last couple of weeks with high winds, bitter cold temps, snow, and icy conditions. The Firefighters were finally able to perform a safe ground ladder training on Tuesday Evening, March 15,2005. Firefighters loaded up on to the Rescue, Squad, and Engine 62-1 & 2 and headed up to the Owen J. Roberts High School to perform the training. Crews Practiced retrieving and placing the 35' 3 section extension ladder and the 24' 2 section extension ladder before extending to the building. Crews then extended the ladders to the different wall heights on the building. Firefighters checked for the correct climbing angle of the ladders and then ascending to the roof Rescue 62 provided illumination with its light tower to aid fire crew in the training. Fire fighters have been waiting all winter to be able to get outside more often for trainings.
