Drill - Car Stabilization - 07/24/2012

Practicing Vertical Stabilization

We happen to use "Junkyard Dog" brand.

While working on a "tipped" vehicle, before you can get trapped people out, you need to make sure the vehicle won't roll over on the rescue workers and/or victims. It might be a victim who was thrown out of the vehicle. To do this you must create "triangles", which are very strong, that will support the vehicle. If you look at the pictures on this page, or the examples on the "Junkyard Dog" web site, you will see how this is done.

It's best to learn how to do this in a controlled, non-emergency, situation where you don't have to hurry. This is just one of the many things we practice during Tuesday work nights.

Many of these pictures have had their "Brightness" and "Contrast" adjusted to make it easier to see what is going on.

The size, maximum 600 pixels wide, and resolution has been changed on all of these pictures to speed loading and allow 2 side by side on a standard screen.
