Community Event - East Coventry Police Department "Halloween Safe House" 2008

   On Friday October 17th, 2006 the East Coventry Police held their annual "Halloween Safe House". The Ridge Fire Company loaned the use of their halls and fire company members helped in setup, manning the Straw Maze, "Moon Bounce", traffic control, manning a table with fire safety items, etc. Debby Kopystecki, the East Coventy Police Secretary, did the organizing. The Parkerford Women's Club assisted with collecting the non-perishable goods, ran the games, gave out food, etc. Kolb's Dairy provided the bales for the Straw Maze, delivered and picked up the bales, and help construct the maze. Addmission to the event was one, or more, non-perishable item. Among the local police departments that assisted were East Vincent, West Vincent, East Pikeland, and North Coventry. West End Ambulance also attended.

   There were games, the weather was good so there was a Straw Maze this year, a "Moon Bounce", refreshments, and a magician. There were around 150 kids and adults attending. There was a fair amount of non-perishable foods collected. The Parkerford Women's Club will be using some of the food collected to prepare food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The rest of the food will be donated to a local food bank.
