Auto Accident 9/21/2011
Serious Single Vehicle Accident on Bethel Church Road
On September 21, 2011 at 20:36Hrs the Chester County Fire Board alerted the Ridge Fire Co. (Station 62) and West End Ambulance Sub-Station (MICU 1-67) to Bethel Church Rd just past Eleanor Dr. for an auto accident. Chief 62 responded and was advised of one vehicle partially blocking the roadway, possibly into a tree. Deputy 62 arrived on scene moments later and upgraded the assignment to one vehicle into a tree with one victim heavily entrapped in the vehicle and placed a medical transport helicopter on stand-by. Personnel from the rescue and squad worked to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the patient. Extrication was completed at 2054hrs. Due to the inclement weather all medical helicopters were unable the fly. EMS and Rescue personnel packaged the patient for transport by ground to Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Fire apparatus remained on scene until 21:46hrs providing lighting for PD to conduct their investigation and scene clean up.
