Sweeper Truck Makes a Mess on Rt. 100
On Friday, July 3, 2009 at 0731Hrs the Chester County Fire Board alerted the Ridge Fire Co. (Station 62) for wires down on Rt. 100 south of Rt. 23 in South Coventry Twp. Assistant 62 responded immediately and was advised that wires were reported down on Rt 100 blocking the roadway. Before Asst. 62 could arrive on scene Chester advised of a second call for an auto accident on Rt. 100 by Prizer Rd. Asst. 62 advised that it was one in the same and a sweeper truck had taken out a pole with PECO and Verizon lines down in the roadway. Fire Police were requested to shut down Rt. 100 between Rt. 23 and Rt. 401. Station 62 and 73 (Ludwigs Corner) fire police were dispatched to cover those intersections. Medic 329-2 out of Goodwill Ambulance in Pottstown arrived to treat the driver of the truck. Rescue 62 secured the scene and Engine 62-1 was made available on the scene for any other calls in the district. PECO arrived to secure the pole and fire police were able to reopen Rt. 100. All units were made available at 0836Hrs.
